SCTelcom's Fiber to the Home (FTTH) project, that began in the summer of 2002, is moving forward ahead of schedule.
FTTH is state of the art technology, that connects fiber-optic cable directly to the customer's home or business to deliver voice and high-speed data services. This product will give the user virtually an endless amount of bandwidth.
Most residential communities still rely upon copper networks which restrict data traffic and create "bottlenecks" from the central office to the premises. FTTH solves these "bottlenecks" by increasing the amount of bandwidth, which will extend the fiber freeway all the way from the source to each individual end user.
The installation began in July of 2002 in the Sharon exchange, which is now complete along with the communities of Turon and Iuka. The SCTelcom technicians are now starting the conversion process in Kiowa and once they have completed this area they will move into Sun City, Lake City , Sharon and Hazelton , KS along with Byron and Burlington , OK .
"So far everything is going as planned, we are actually significantly ahead of schedule," stated Randie Landwehr, outside plant manager. "All of the credit goes to this outstanding group of outside plant techs, office techs and of course the contractors. I have a great team that is doing exceptional work."
