Due to recent changes in the telecom industry, SCTelcom's Board of Directors has implemented a new business plan and will be leaving the Wichita , Hutchinson and surrounding urban markets beginning January 2005.
The new plan will allow SCTelcom to spend more time developing services in their traditional rural marketplace by expanding technical support, telecom products and improving customer relationships. In order to achieve these new goals, SCTelcom's current customers in these areas will be transferred to another competitive local exchange carrier based in Independence , KS .
"We feel by doing this, we can better concentrate on supporting our rural markets, which has been the foundation and what we feel is the future of SCTelcom," said Steve Davis, SCTelcom General Manager.
SCTelcom has been serving South Central Kansas for over 50 years and plans to continue to provide these services to their rural communities, as well as helping make the urban customer transition to Prairie Stream Communications a smooth one.
