DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a service that offers a faster Internet connection than a standard dial-up connection. DSL technology uses existing 2-wire copper telephone wiring to deliver high-speed data services to homes and businesses. DSL uses the existing phone line which gives "always-on" Internet access and does not tie up the phone line.
Most modems, like dial-up and cable modems, will not work with our DSL. If you already have a DSL modem from another ISP, we will attempt to make it work. If the modem is not compatible you will either need to purchase a modem yourself or buy one from SCTelcom
Yes. With DSL you have the ability to talk on the phone and be on the Internet at the same time.
The set-up fee covers the price for SCTelcom to order your DSL line and it covers the equipment and labor necessary for our technicians to get the service to your home It does not cover the network interface card for your computer, the modem or router and the software your computer needs.
Yes. If you purchase a router, you can share your DSL connection between multiple computers. A router typically includes a "firewall" option, which offers added protection to you computers. A router should not be confused with a "hub." The two devices are similar in function, but serve different purposes. We can recommend a router and install it for you.

To find out if your home or business is connected to a part of our network that can handle DSL, we will have to to run a loop qualify check. (The term "loop" refers to the wires that make the connection from the phone company office to your location and back.) Here are the factors that SCTelcom will check:
1. Do you live in an area where we provide DSL?
2. Is your location within distance restrictions from the phone company equipment?
3. Are there other services sharing the same wire bundle that might cause interference?

The first way you can determine as to whether your internet is working or not is by simply opening a web browser (Internet Explorer) and try to pull up a web page. If this process is not successful, a reboot of your computer may be necessary to refresh your computer's settings. If you are still unable to view a website after rebooting, place a call to the Internet Help Desk and they will be able to assist your issue.
The technicians at the Internet Help Desk will be able to walk you through various computer configurations over the phone, to check that your PC is configured properly.

You may contact the Internet Help Desk using your telephone prefix, with the last four numbers being 7700. For example, as a customer in Kiowa, you could reach the Internet Help Desk by dialing 825-7700.
